The 24th Annual Pickens Azalea Festival was a rousing
success. Highlights of the festival were the Alabama Blues Brothers
Friday night presented by The Pickens Sentinel. The 3rd annual Classic
Car Cruise - In which grows larger every year.
THANK YOU to everyone who came out and braved the rainy weather
Saturday morning including our arts/craft vendors, civic non –profit
organizations & local entertainers at Legacy Square.
Highlights Saturday was the kick off of the First Annual Chili Cook
Off presented by Pickens County Meals On Wheels. The Second Annual 5K
walk/run presented by the Pickens Women’s Association. And the Craig
Woolard Band presented by Brian Raines & Ameriprise Financial wrap up
a successful evening Saturday night.
We certainly want to thank our many
sponsors for helping to make the 2008 Azalea Festival a reality. We
deeply appreciate their financial sponsorship of this important
community event. A good time was truly had by ALL!
We
also want to thank the City of Pickens, Police and Fire Departments
along with Streets & Sanitation workers for their assistance. They are
a hard working group of dedicated City employees who helped make the
festival possible. Thanks to the Pickens Chamber of Commerce and the
volunteers of the Azalea Festival Planning Committee who work for
months to create the festival each year. Their ideas and input keep
making the Azalea Festival bigger and better each year.
Mark your calendars for next year – third weekend in April for
the 2009, 25TH Pickens Azalea Festival with new
activities, attractions and delights. We look forward to seeing you
then!
